welcome to the Burlingham house

Burlingham House provides
a happy, caring environment for 30 adults with learning difficulties
in a beautiful part of Norfolk. It is their permanent family home,
where they are looked after by a dedicated team of full time professional
carers 24 hours a day.
Opening in 1971, the original mission statement for the home was "to provide a residential care home for life with a family atmosphere for mentally handicapped adults." More than thirty years on, the home has kept pace with the legislation and modernisation of residential care but continues to provide a happy, caring home for adults with learning disadvantages, special needs and learning disabilities.
Situated a few miles east of Norwich, the original house was enlarged
in 1979 to provide additional places. Nine years later, a ground floor
wing was added to the Main House giving five extra large bedrooms
and two bathrooms. At the same time, a paved rose garden was made
where residents can relax and enjoy summer evenings.
Each resident has their own key worker who looks after their individual needs
and special provisions – keeps their bedroom tidy, takes them shopping
and listens to any problems.
Norwich Mencap Society, a registered charity, owns Burlingham House. There are no commitments to shareholders or other proprietors; all money received is spent for the direct benefit of the residents.
We hope you enjoy looking through the site. If you are looking for a friendly residential home in East Anglia for your family member or friend who has a learning disability, we hope you will contact us and arrange a visit.
